Urban Agriculture, Forest Gardening and Edible Landscaping in Toronto

The Green Gardeners Community Collaborative would like to thank its partners, staff and volunteers at Green Oasis on Broadview, an urban agricultural incubator/forest gardening demonstration site in the Riverdale community of Toronto.   We are proud to say that the garden is well on its way to having planted at least 30 species of the “Top 100 Forest Gardening Species” listed by David Jackie’s seminal work: Edible Forest Gardens.

Green Oasis on Broadview is a collaborative effort between many social enterprise groups involving the Green Gardeners Community Collaborative, Our Homes AssociationChocoSol Horizontal Traders and Chocolatiers, and the charitable Seeds of Hope Foundation, all of whom are dedicated to being socially conscious organizations, promoting healthier living, and community building in Toronto.  Our main goals with this project are to offer volunteers and members to experiment with forest gardening, bioinvenstive and permaculture techniques with the Toronto Skyline as a backdrop.

The Green Gardeners through Green Oasis also aim to propagate edible plants in a forest garden setting that can be replicated in your own home, community or condominium, planting edible combinations (polycultures) from full shade to full sun. Some of our themes include Tea Gardens, Salad Gardens, and Edible Perennials that are native and/or shade tolerant.
